About Siwon
I am Siwon, a third-year college student originally from the Northern Virginia area, currently studying in Charlottesville. I grew up in a Korean household and am fully bilingual in English and Korean, which has helped me communicate clearly and adapt to different learning styles over the years.
I have always been drawn to math and problem-solving, and I naturally became the person my friends and family came to when they needed help understanding something. I have been tutoring my younger sister in math for years, and I spent four years volunteering every Saturday as a teaching assistant at a Korean language school, working with students of all ages and skill levels.
Outside of academics, I am passionate about music, particularly guitar, and I have built projects that combine my love of music with my technical skills. I work well with people, I am patient by nature, and I genuinely care about making sure the students I work with feel supported and confident. I believe anyone can improve at math and coding with the right guidance, and that is what I aim to provide in every session.

My lessons are structured around your specific needs. I start each session by identifying where you are struggling, and then we work through it together step by step until the concept clicks. Rather than simply giving you the answer, I focus on building real understanding so you can tackle similar problems independently.
I work with middle school and high school students across a range of subjects including pre-algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics. For SAT and ACT math preparation, I emphasize pattern recognition and strategic shortcuts that save valuable time on test day. For programming, I guide students through logical thinking before writing any code, which builds confidence and makes the overall learning process much smoother.
I am currently a third year Computer Science and Mathematics student at the University of Virginia with a 3.6 GPA and a 35 on the ACT. I have a strong academic foundation in the subjects I teach and a genuine interest in helping students improve. I also tutor my younger sister in math on a regular basis, which has given me experience working with students at different levels and learning speeds. I keep sessions low pressure and judgment free, and I am happy to adjust my pace to whatever works best for you.
