About Riya
I am a University of Warwick Student studying Politics and International Studies! I got 3 As in my A Levels where I studied Maths, Biology and Classics as well as did an EPQ. I have tutored multiple students - ranging from 11+ to GCSE level and greatly enjoyed seeing them improve. I thoroughly believe that doing fun quizzes/riddles/games at the end of lessons helps keep students' attention as well as doing slightly slower-paced lessons if they have had a particularly tough day at school. As I am a student myself I definitely know the challenges of academic life so I teach with energy, patience and no judgement.

Sitting for an hour doing worksheets is never fun - so I don’t do that. I try to make learning as engaging as possible whilst also making sure the entirety of the GCSE syllabus is covered and mastered. I also update the parents after every session through a shared Google Doc (so they can actually see your progress). When it comes to Maths and Biology I do believe in explain first then practice questions after - if there is ever a concern I am happy to go over concepts as many times as required. When it comes to English I believe in writing as much as possible - but writing what you wish to write and analysing texts you find engaging (as well as the set books and poetry of course). You can set whatever time you want lessons to be as well as how many lessons you would like to do in a week but they will typically be an hour to an hour and a half. I am also open to doing a free first trial lesson where the parent can sit in!

I received all 9s in my GCSEs last summer- and I genuinely couldn’t have done it without Riya. She explains concepts so clearly, and makes sure you understand them before moving on, allowing you to be tutored at your own place. She tutored me in Maths, Science and English, and modified the style of learning to fit the subject and exams I would later face. She is very patient and understanding when teaching.
