About Shruti
I began tutoring in high school for children who lived in my neighborhood, and the same passion translated into college where I worked for the campus tutoring center. During college I myself signed up for tutoring for the MCAT, and was able to also experience what it was like to be tutored. I believe that experience taught me a lot about my own tutoring style and how to improve on it; for example I learned that allowing students time to work through it and not immediately jumping in was key to building confidence and developing recall skills. Now I work in research and am planning to go back to school so all of my learning techniques and skills are very relevant in my life and I’d love to pass them on to others! I truly believe that everyone has the ability to excel in education you just have to find the right style that works for you, and I’d love to help you find that!

I am a visual and audio learner, however, to integrate information I believe practice is key. Before the tutoring session, I’d like to get an overview of the topics you’d like to cover so I can create a lesson plan to easily and quickly explain any confusing topics, as well as compile practice questions. Practice allows students to interpret and utilize information in different ways and prepares them to think creatively when taking exams. Reviewing and analyzing missed questions deepens recall. This style would also apply to any homework or exam questions you’d like to go through, and we can focus on strategies to avoid common mistakes during testing.
