For The Music Major and The Suzuki Student, a tailored singing approach blends technical precision with expressive depth. Song selection is key—choose pieces that showcase vocal range, emotional nuance, and stylistic versatility. For The Music Major, this means selecting contrasting classical and contemporary repertoire. The Suzuki Student benefits from structured progression, starting with familiar tonal patterns and expanding into more expressive works. Vocal tone matching is practiced by mimicking professional recordings to internalize phrasing, timbre, and articulation. Controlled dynamics are honed through targeted exercises that develop breath support and volume control across registers. Both personas thrive with vocal agility drills—scales, arpeggios, and melismatic passages—to improve flexibility and clarity. Mock auditions simulate real performance pressure, helping students refine stage presence and manage nerves. Exposure to diverse genres—jazz, musical theater, pop, opera—builds a resilient and adaptable vocal identity. Use backing track apps like Appcompanist or iReal Pro to practice with accompaniment. Lyric trainers and pitch analyzers enhance memorization and accuracy, especially for non-native language pieces. This well-rounded method builds confidence, technical control, and a compelling audition-ready portfolio.

I still remember sitting in the college common room, hearing Freya sing for the first time, we all just stopped and listened. She has this rare way of making you feel every word she sings. Now, as a tutor, she brings that same heart into her lessons. She will cheer you on, make you laugh when you’re nervous, and somehow will turn practice into the best part of your week.
I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside Freya, she’s an incredible singer. Every time I hear her perform, I’m blown away by her voice, control, and emotion. She has this rare ability to connect with the music and the audience at the same time. It’s inspiring to work with someone so genuinely talented.
