About Jianing
Hi, I’m Jianing! I graduated from the University of Toronto with a background in Statistics and Economics, and I have previous teaching experience as a teaching assistant at a language education center, where I worked with students ranging from elementary school to high school.
Through this experience, I became familiar with working with students of different ages, learning styles, and academic levels. I’m patient, organized, and attentive to each student’s needs, and I always try to explain concepts in a clear and approachable way.
With my academic background in mathematics, statistics and economics, I’m comfortable supporting students with quantitative subjects and helping them build both stronger problem-solving skills and greater confidence. I can teach in both English and Mandarin, and also talk in Japanese and Korean! I aim to create a supportive, encouraging, and comfortable learning environment.

Focusing on helping students understand the logic behind each concept rather than simply memorizing formulas. I first identify the student’s strengths, weaknesses, and learning goals, then tailor each lesson to their individual needs.
A typical lesson includes a short review of previous material, a clear explanation of new concepts using practical examples, guided practice, and independent problem-solving. I also help students develop effective study strategies and learn how to approach unfamiliar questions with confidence.
With a background in Statistics and Economics, I can support students in mathematics, statistics, probability, calculus, and introductory economics. My lessons are suitable for middle school and high school students, as well as university students taking introductory-level quantitative courses. Lessons can be provided in English or Mandarin.
