About Lior
My background as a classical pianist goes from when I first started taking piano lessons at age 7 years old through now, as I am currently pursuing my studies as a Doctoral student at the University of Southern California, having graduated with a Bachelor's in Piano Performance at the Eastman School of Music and a Master's in Piano Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. What kept me continuing to pursue music continuously for more than twenty years was a love instilled by my many excellent mentors, including Jon Nakamatsu and Jeffrey Kahane whose pedagogical approaches still inspire me to this day. Not only have I learned from my teachers' insight about repertoire that I have studied, but my education has affirmed in me the idea that one's engagement with music is an inherently intuitive, scientific, and Socratic process that I aspire to share with you. I have ample teaching experience of students of all ages and look forward to working together.

As a piano teacher, my goals are to make learning music accessible, engaging, and informative. When you come to work with me, I will want to know what you are looking to gain from piano lessons and how best to achieve that, whether it is preparation for auditions or competitions, guidance on how to prepare accompaniment for performances with friends, choruses, or theater productions, instruction on repertoire that excites you, or simply further musical insight on your playing. As a classically trained pianist, my expertise is on a broad body of piano repertoire from Bach to the present day. I am still delighted to teach music of all genres. I have deep experience and familiarity with many piano methods, including Faber, RCM, and Certificate of Merit and will tailor my approach to what works best as I get to know my students. In addition to teaching repertoire, I also teach skills to improve sightreading, music theory, as well as supplemental technical exercises such as scales, arpeggios, and etudes by Czerny and other composers with an attentiveness to agility, tone, and physical ease informed by body mechanics.

Details
While in person lessons are 90 dollars an hour, Zoom lessons are 60 dollars an hour. Your first lesson with me will be free, and can largely involve me gauging your background with music, what you would like to learn with me, and so on. Before I accept payments for lesson packages, I prefer that lessons are tentatively scheduled.
