About Avi
My name is Avi Patel and I am an alumnus of Mission San Jose High School in Fremont, CA. I recently graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention, and I will be attending the Keck School of Medicine of USC next fall as a candidate for the MD Class of 2027.
I’ve always possessed a strong passion for scientific coursework and research, which led me take honors biology + chemistry and AP Biology + Chemistry at MSJHS, as well as advanced chemistry, advanced biology, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and stem cell biology/regenerative medicine courses at the university level. I furthered my interest by conducting 1.5 years of molecular biology and DNA repair research in the USC Chiolo Lab, where I have concretely applied and developed my natural science knowledge.

Hello All!
I am offering weekly tutoring for all levels of chemistry and biology (CP/Honors/AP) for the 2022-2023 school year. Tutoring sessions will include PowerPoint slides to go over key concepts, supplemented with videos, worksheets, practice questions, and weekly homework. I am able to help with both the lecture and laboratory components of the courses, as well as help tutees prepare for the AP exams and SAT II subject tests. Sessions can be held 1-on-1 or in small groups (up to 5), and are available either online through the Zoom platform or in-person in Fremont, CA. Students can register for individual sessions, register with a small group, or request to be placed in a small group session.
Qualifications:
- Earned “A” letter grades in AP Chemistry & AP Biology at MSJHS and Advanced Chemistry, Advanced Biology, Organic Chemistry, & Biochemistry at USC
- Earned a 5 on both AP Chemistry and AP Biology exams
- Earned an 800 on the SAT II Chemistry and SAT II Biology subject tests
- Obtained 99th percentile SAT score and 96th percentile MCAT score
- Previous tutoring experience with 30+ students (both private and at Berkeley Academy in Fremont)
