About DaRhon
I have been a middle school English teacher for 23 years, and a scholastic chess coach for 20 years. My students have participated in local, state, and national chess events. Just this year, three of my students earn gold, silver, and bronze medals in their division at the 2023 Michigan Scholastic K-9 State Championships held at Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan. I just left teaching last year in order to pursue instructing and coaching chess full time through my company Conner Chess Gymnasium LLC. Whether you are a student, youth, or adult, I look forward to helping you reach your chess goals.

Using a combination of software and over-the-board puzzles and positions, I teach chess in an easy to understand way. Beginners will learn the pieces and the object of the game and how to win. Intermediate players will learn more advanced tactics and strategies to both increase their rating and tournament success. And for those who just want to engage in a thinking exercise to keep their brain sharp, I'll work out an individual plan to help you achieve your chess goals. Both adults and children benefit from learning this ancient game of kings. I have taught schoolchildren and veterans, youth, adults, and anyone who wants to learn. My company teaches chess in schools, churches, and other organizations, in addition to private lessons. I organize monthly chess tournaments so that players can have a place to compete. Spreading the game of chess is part of my lifestyle.
