About Lula
I'm a music student who grew up in Bristol, playing since the age of four. I studied classical piano pieces from Bach to Mozart, then moved onto playing pieces from the romantic period such as Ravel and Debussy. My personal highlights have been performing in grand halls such as St Georges (Bristol), and in numerous theatre shows. In my spare time I write music for theatre shows, using the piano as my primary composition instrument. Graded exams are not my main focus for teaching. Growing up I quickly realised children around me would often stop playing once they got to a certain grade as they simply did not enjoy what they were playing. I believe that sometimes exams don't necessarily evoke the passion or emotion that is demanded by certain piano pieces, and often the repertoire can end up sounding somewhat lifeless. By harnessing the classical technique I aim to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students develop genuine musicality and a lifelong love of playing. I want to ensure all my students learn to feel music deeply whilst mastering the technical complexities.

Lessons will last for forty minutes, which includes practice in sight reading, scales and classical pieces. I mainly teach children who are at beginner level so that we can work through the Suzuki repertoire. By emphasising ear training and emotional connection, I help students develop genuine musicality and a lifelong love of playing.
