About Ruan
I am a professional musician and experienced music educator with a BMus degree in Flute Performance and Orchestral Studies from the University of Cape Town. I have extensive experience teaching music in both private and school environments, working with learners of different ages, abilities and musical goals.
Through VDV Music, I bring together my experience as a performer and teacher to provide practical, structured and enjoyable music education. I believe that good teaching should develop more than the ability to play an instrument. My aim is to help students understand music, build confidence and become independent musicians.
I have experience teaching flute, fife, recorder, classical guitar, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, bass guitar, ukulele and music theory, including examination preparation. Whether you are starting from scratch or looking to develop your existing skills, I aim to create lessons that are professional, supportive and tailored to your individual needs.
