About Ellery
I hold a Bachelor’s in Classical Violin and a Master’s in Music Performance, with 5 years of experience teaching violin to students at various levels. My teaching philosophy combines structured technical instruction with a focus on musical expression and interpretive skill. I prioritize building confidence, supporting individual learning needs, and cultivating a love for music.
In lessons, I emphasize bowing techniques, finger placement, intonation, scales, phrasing, and repertoire development. I provide individualized guidance, constructive feedback, and strategies to ensure steady progress while keeping students motivated. My goal is to develop technically capable, expressive, and confident violinists.
Beyond teaching, I actively engage in performance, repertoire study, and music education research. This experience allows me to introduce students to a wide range of musical styles, techniques, and performance practices. Witnessing students grow in skill, confidence, and musicality remains the most rewarding aspect of my work.

Violin lessons flourish when students develop both technical skill and expressive artistry. I focus on bowing technique, finger positioning, intonation, rhythm, phrasing, and tone production. Lessons are structured to build confidence, musical understanding, and consistent progress while maintaining a supportive and encouraging environment. Each session combines exercises, repertoire, and interpretive guidance to enhance both skill and musicality.
Beginners work on posture, open strings, basic scales, and simple repertoire to establish a strong technical foundation. Intermediate learners practice more complex scales, fingerings, coordination, dynamics, and expressive interpretation. Advanced students refine vibrato, advanced repertoire, musical expression, performance preparation, and solo interpretation. Lessons include targeted exercises, feedback, and demonstrations tailored to each student’s learning style.
Violin lessons also foster creativity, listening skills, and emotional expression. Students learn to interpret pieces with feeling, perform confidently, and communicate music effectively. My goal is to cultivate technical proficiency, musical insight, and self-assurance, helping learners progress steadily while enjoying the transformative journey of violin study.
