About Melanie
I earned a Bachelor of Music in Classical Violin Performance and have spent the past 4 years helping students strengthen their musicianship through supportive and personalized instruction. My love for violin began through years of study, ensemble participation, and performance experiences. Teaching allows me to share that passion while helping others achieve their musical goals. Working with learners at different stages of development has deepened my understanding of effective instruction.
My teaching style combines traditional foundations with creative flexibility. I focus on helping students build reliable technique while encouraging musical expression and individuality. Lessons are adapted to each learner’s needs, ensuring that progress remains both challenging and achievable. Students receive clear guidance, practical exercises, and ongoing encouragement. This approach helps create confidence and lasting motivation.
Outside teaching, I enjoy chamber music, score study, and exploring different violin repertoires. These activities continue to inspire my growth as both a musician and educator. Watching students regain confidence and achieve meaningful milestones is deeply rewarding. I strive to create lessons that are supportive, engaging, and effective. My goal is to help every learner develop a strong and lasting connection with music.

My violin lessons are especially suited for learners who want to reconnect with music after time away from playing. I focus on rebuilding strong fundamentals through tone development, bow control, posture improvement, intonation practice, and rhythmic stability. Students are encouraged to progress at a comfortable pace while regaining confidence in their abilities. Lessons emphasize patience and consistency, helping learners rediscover enjoyment in the instrument. Every session is designed to reduce pressure and create a positive learning experience.
To support returning musicians, I include open-string exercises, slow scale practice, confidence-building studies, and mindful preparation techniques. Students work on developing a relaxed approach to playing while strengthening technical skills. Learners dealing with performance anxiety receive guidance on focus, preparation, and managing nervousness effectively. Musical interpretation and expressive playing are gradually reintroduced as confidence increases. This balanced process helps students rebuild both skill and motivation.
My goal is to help learners enjoy making music again. As technical abilities return, students often rediscover their passion for playing and gain greater self-confidence. Lessons encourage perseverance, patience, and personal growth. Every improvement is celebrated as meaningful progress. I want students to feel supported as they continue their musical journey with renewed enthusiasm.
