About Teddy
I have been playing violin almost all my life. I’m from Chicago, and I just moved in as a freshman at USC. Some of my accomplishments include playing in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, playing at Lollapalooza, being principal violist in my high school symphony and district/state orchestra, and playing at weddings, senior homes, etc…

Hi! I’m Teddy, a freshman at the University of Southern California studying Chemistry on the pre-med track. Although I have a passion for the sciences, I am also a highly trained and skilled violin and viola player. I have been helping children ages 6–14 learn their string instruments for almost three years now, and I absolutely love it!
However, I am unlike many teachers. My primary goal when working with a student is not simply to “teach” them, but to help them genuinely enjoy playing. I believe that their technical and musical skills will naturally improve as a result of their own enjoyment and intrinsic motivation to grow. Of course, I do teach and help students develop their playing, but my main goal is to make them love their instrument—even if that means spending the entire lesson playing violin/viola games!
The best time to learn an instrument is when you’re young. However, a major wave of students quitting begins around age 11, right as many enter middle school. I have had students who have dropped other activities to focus on their instrument, surpassed my level of teaching, and even moved to another state while continuing to enjoy their instrument. I hope to spark that same passion and motivation in every one of my students.
