About Justin
I'm a Kiwi-born Chinese violinist who is currently studying a Bachelor of Music (as well as Law at the University of Auckland). I find teaching to be the most fulfilling job I have and probably will ever have. I'm always working my hardest with extreme patience in order to achieve the best results for my students.
I have been teaching at Moonlight Music School in Epsom for 4 years now. Parents trust me and praise my passion in teaching their children.
My qualifications include being the current recipient of the APO Roth Violin Scholarship for both 2024 and 2025. Furthermore, I was a former concertmaster of Auckland Youth Orchestra. I also recently received a A+ for my recital performance at the University of Auckland at the end of 2024.

I teach all students up to diploma levels. Whether you're looking for casual lessons, thinking of preparing for an exam or audition or looking to take your violin playing to professional levels, I customize all teaching programs to each student according to their goals. Hard worker, casual learner or a complete beginner.
There is no set structure to the lessons, they're all specially tailored to each student's needs. And I guarantee that I will work hard to find the best ways to help improve your playing quickly and effectively.
I believe in strong foundational technique. I tend to focus on scales and exercises as I find it to be the best way to set students up for their future development in the instrument. Having said that, I'm in no way overly strict. I have a good sense of humour and I have always prioritised student enjoyment above everything else.
Typical lesson time is one hour however for beginners 30 minutes would be more suitable.
