About Chieh Ju
I'm a journalist and documentary filmmaker currently studying in Cardiff. I started tutoring two years ago back home in Taiwan, and my previous students are mostly children whose first language is English, as there are quite a lot of foreigners in the area I live.
I am here to help my tutees feel more comfortable using Mandarin, whether it's through pop music, games, folktales, TV, films or practicing daily conversation. I will guid you to approach daily life with the language, which will bring a lot of fun and you'll see yourself improving in no time and using the language more often!
I enjoyed learning english with an American teacher so much as a child, and I want that for all my tutees as well. Learning another language not only enables you to communicate to more people, but you'll find more ways to articulate yourself and express your thoughts and feelings. :)

From Pinyin and simple basic Chinese characters, I'll make sure you learn a solid base of the language. We will watch videos and do work sheets in class, which will be costumed to what works best for you really.
So, feel free to get in touch and let me know why you want to learn Mandarin, and what result you'd like to see if there is any.
I also like to chat with my students about trendy topics and mundane matters, and introduce new terms and idioms along the way. It's all stress-free but with good result!
