About Mary Ellen
I was born deaf in 1982. There was no hearing exam at the hospital during that period. When I was adopted at 3 months old, my adoptive parents discovered I was deaf at 1 year old. My parents learned ASL and I took ASL to learn as my first language. I was raised in both hearing and deaf worlds. So I have experience of what it is like to be in the hearing world and deaf world with hearing school vs deaf school. Been through a lot of communication barriers my entire life and still do. I have knowledge and experience in both hearing and deaf worlds. I will teach you what it is like to be a deaf person. Also will teach you the history of deaf culture. ASL has its own language structure with many different meanings. I have attended Gallaudet University 2002-2004, currently attending Kansas State University with an expected graduation date of Spring 2026. Then go to graudate school for my Masters at St Mary Law School in Texas starting Fall 2026.

My course has those following ASL 1 (Basic) ASL 2 (review of ASL 1 in addition to ASL 2) ASL 3 (Review of ASL 1 & 2 in addition to ASL 3) ASL 4 (Review of all above in addition to ASL 4) Deaf Culture Education Musical Plan on adding medical, court, lawyer, any other professional terms in the future. I also have a separate course where it only teaches basic baby language for mothers with deaf kids or mothers who want to learn baby ASL to teach their babies hearing or deaf to help with their early communication skills before spoken words. Just ask for this certain session. I also provide resources for parents who just learned about their child being deaf or hard of hearing. (I do not charge a fee for just providing resources, message me about this) It is very beneficial to learn from a pure deaf person who has all the knowledge and experience. It is a very educational session, I promise you that you will love it, enjoy it and get a rich learning experience that you will never forget.

The prices include a digital workbook and practice sheets. It also counts toward my time that I put aside for you only so we can work together and practice. I am working on creating the workbook and answer book, also practice book with a publisher.
