About Jason
I am an English and essay-writing specialist, with a PhD in Art History from the University of Warwick. I firmly believe writing is a powerful tool of expressing our creativity and unique voice.
I have over 12 years of experience as a scholar and museum curator. I understand how to translate big ideas into structured, well-referenced thoughts.
I work especially well with ESL students. I have many years of experience empowering students to believe in their own ideas, follow their curiosity, and implement their visions using academic tools to achieve top grades.
I am especially gifted at exam preparation and university applications. Last year, two of my students earned **fully funded** PhD scholarships at University College London and the University of Warwick!
I guided their scholarship essays and application strategy. In my own PhD applications, I was awarded scholarships from top schools in the UK, US, and Canada.
My deepest passion is helping creatives who struggle with essay writing. As a creative myself, I understand the difficulty of this process.
I enjoy working with students of all levels. For the last four years, I have lectured at University of the Arts London on history, culture, art, and creative practice. My students have consistently received A grades.
In addition to curating, I have published extensively in many sources, from contributing the 2025 Metropolitan Museum of Art 'Superfine' exhibition catalogue, to various academic journals.
My new book, 'Sunday Best: The Power and Glory of Black Style,' will be published by Yale University Press in September 2026.

My process is simple, fun, and proven.
In our first meeting, I will assess your needs and goals. I will craft a detailed lesson plan to assign creative and research tasks. Together, we will work through practice and revision to ensure your writing is clear, well-structured, academically rigorous, and represents your unique voice.
I will teach you proven methods of research, essay structure, and writing flow learnt over my 12 years of teaching.
I am especially attuned to helping creatives who struggle with essay writing. I will help you translate your ideas into academic thoughts. I will make the process engaging by breaking down complex topics into manageable, focused steps so that you leave each session feeling more confident and prepared. As a creative myself, this work gives me great satisfaction.
It is also fun!

Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor
Jason tutored me throughout my master's degree, and I later reconnected with him for guidance on my PhD application and scholarship application to the University of Warwick. He has an exceptional ability to recognise what makes each student unique and has repeatedly helped me identify and articulate my strengths with confidence.
He is patient, articulate, and genuinely kind, but what stands out most is his deep love of learning. This was especially evident in the way he guided me through developing my research proposal, encouraging me to think more critically and clearly about my ideas rather than simply telling me what to do.
His familiarity with higher education systems in both the UK and Canada was also invaluable. After every conversation with him, I felt more focused, confident, and grounded in my next steps. I would highly recommend Jason to anyone seeking support with university applications or wanting to better understand and communicate their strengths. His guidance is particularly valuable during what can often be a daunting and uncertain process.View more recommendations
