About Rayna-Kirsten

Hello! My name is Rayna, and I’m currently studying Law at the University of Warwick. I’ve always loved subjects that make me think critically and write persuasively, which is why I achieved A, A, and A at A-Level in English Literature, Religious Studies, and Politics**, alongside a Grade 9 in Maths. These subjects challenged me to push myself academically, and I now enjoy helping students do the same. I have been tutoring for over a year, with more than 60 hours of one-to-one teaching experience in English Literature and Religious Studies (AQA and Edexcel). My students have made excellent progress — one moved from a C to an A in Religious Studies within six months, and another raised their essay marks from the mid-60s to over 80 consistently. I believe every student learns differently, so I adapt my lessons to suit your style — whether that’s through discussion, visual tools, or exam practice. My aim is to help you feel confident, prepared, and capable of achieving your very best, while also building skills that will benefit you beyond the exam hall.

Tutoring is one of the most rewarding things I do, as it allows me to combine my academic strengths with my passion for helping others grow in confidence and reach their potential. From a young age, I have loved subjects that challenge me to think critically and write persuasively, which led me to achieve A*, A*, and A in English Literature, Religious Studies, and Politics at A-Level, alongside a Grade 9 in Maths. Now, as a Law student at the University of Warwick, I continue to refine these skills in analysis, essay writing, and problem-solving, and I enjoy sharing effective techniques with my students. I have accumulated over 12 months of tutoring experience, delivering 60+ hours of one-to-one tuition to five A-Level students across the AQA and Edexcel exam boards in English Literature and Religious Studies. My formal tutoring began in November–December 2023, with weekly sessions focused on A-Level English Literature, and I have since continued to work with students on an informal basis. My students have achieved measurable progress: one improved from a C to an A in Religious Studies within six months, while another consistently raised their essay scores from mid-60s to 80+ by strengthening essay planning and exam technique. On average, my students improve by at least two grade boundaries. I design lessons to be structured, interactive, and personalised. Sessions typically begin with a short warm-up (such as a 10-minute past-paper question), move into a focused activity like annotating a poem, unpacking a philosophical argument, or drafting an essay plan, and finish with a practice task and targeted feedback. I also place a strong emphasis on exam preparation, using past papers, mark schemes, and model answers so students feel confident about assessments. Above all, I enjoy tutoring because I love seeing students gain not just better grades, but also stronger skills in writing, critical thinking, and independent study — abilities that will serve them far beyond the exam hall.
