About Abigail

I have worked for 9 years as a Home Tutor where I have been able to successfully tutor over 15 students, ranging from ages 3 to 15 (Using the British and Nigerian Curriculum); including preparing lesson plans and modules for tutoring sessions according to students’ needs and goals. I am 96% conversant and very comfortable using the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) and Google Classroom which enabled me to communicate effectively with my students verbally and visually, administer periodical tests, as well as post worksheets and materials. All these resulted in a 98% increase in student performance, leading to an overall high academic achievement.

I also worked as a Graduate Assistant Teacher in a Government-owned school where I taught Basic Science. I was relied upon to assess and look after over 150 students throughout the school session, making good use of distinctive teaching methodologies, documenting all lessons and organizing and maintaining healthy group discussions and mentoring troubled students.

During my Youth Service year, I worked as a Kindergarten Assistant Teacher at St. Bernadette Schools, Akoka, where I was able to help the teacher prepare daily tasks and activities, assess the needs of the students, monitor students at all times to ensure their safety and assist students with daily tasks.

Over the years, I always strive to lay a solid academic foundation for the students I tutor by being very creative, being able to multi-task and manage time effectively, having a healthy level of social and emotional intelligence and being very patient and approachable with kids.

About the lesson

My major courses includes Numeracy, Literacy (including Guided reading) and Basic Sciences from ages 3-15.
Lessons would include a wide range of teaching aids including the use of pictures, drawings, flashcards, diagrams, charts; all of which would be adapted to the learning level and environment.
Within the lesson hour (daily) , formative evaluation would be carried out to measure how effective the lesson has been and to test the retention capacity of the pupil(s). Summative evaluation would be carried out after 4 classes in form of tests, which will be administered in form of worksheets.
Feedback will be given back to the parents/guardians of the pupil(s) to ensure clients' expectations are being met throughout the duration of the lessons.
