Very collaborative and willing to meet you where you are! I am genuinely looking to improve your writing confidence and knowledge. I take more of a coaching strategy when it comes to tutoring - I believe that everyone is capable to learn and grow if they are willing!
This is my typical layout for tutoring:
1) Introductions
2) Gain an understanding of why the student is looking for tutoring services and how I can best support them
3) Ask the student about their ideal learning style and incorporate it into how I teach
4) Read over any relevant student work, including current projects the student is working on and make quick edits
5) Talk through the work with the student and find opportunities to teach new writing skills
Of course, I am more than happy incorporate anything particularly important to you as well!
As a political science major, I am very well-versed in essay-writing, including how to write a strong thesis, while properly incorporating evidence to further strengthen the central argument of the paper.
