About Iona
I am a dedicated violin tutor with 5 years of teaching experience, working with students from school to college levels. My passion for music and education drives me to help each student discover their love for the violin. I believe that learning music is not just about technique but also about expressing emotions and building confidence. This passion inspires me to create lessons that are both enjoyable and challenging. Over the years, I have guided many students to reach important milestones, such as performing in school concerts, passing music exams, and participating in competitions. Seeing my students succeed and grow as musicians brings me great joy and motivates me to continue improving my teaching methods. I focus on creating a supportive environment where every student feels encouraged to explore their potential. My teaching methodology for violin focuses on Accountability, Creativity, and Communication to create a positive and effective learning experience. I believe students learn best when they take responsibility for their progress, so I encourage consistent practice and set clear goals. This helps students stay motivated and track their improvements over time, building confidence in their abilities.
Creativity is an important part of learning the violin. I encourage students to explore different styles of music and express themselves through their playing. This not only makes lessons enjoyable but also helps develop their unique musical voice. I include activities like improvisation and composing simple melodies to make learning more dynamic and personal.
Communication is key to understanding each student’s needs and adapting my teaching style accordingly. I keep an open dialogue with my students, offering clear explanations and constructive feedback. Besides violin, I am also able to teach related subjects such as music theory and ear training, which support a well-rounded musical education. My goal is to help students enjoy music while achieving their best.
