About Ayathandwa
Hi, I'm Ayathandwa, a second-year Computer Science student at the University of the Witwatersrand. I offer tutoring in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and Calculus, with a strong focus on exam preparation.
I take tutoring seriously and treat every lesson with the same discipline I bring to my own studies. Having recently gone through the transition from high school to university-level work myself, I have a clear, current understanding of what these subjects demand and where students commonly struggle — whether that's building a solid foundation before an exam or working through a specific problem area causing frustration.
My teaching style is patient and structured. I believe students learn best when they understand the "why" behind a method, not just the steps to get an answer, so I focus on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation. I'm reliable, well-prepared for every session, and committed to helping each student make consistent, visible progress.
I'm upfront that I'm not a qualified teacher with formal teaching credentials — my strength lies in being a STRONG, RECENT PERFORMER in these subjects myself, paired with a genuine ability to explain them clearly and adapt to how each student learns best. I look forward to helping you build both the skills and the confidence to succeed

I'm a second-year Computer Science student at the University of the Witwatersrand, and I tutor Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and Calculus, with a focus on exam preparation. Because I'm still close to this material myself, I understand exactly where students get stuck and which shortcuts actually help — not just abstract theory.
My approach is practical and student-led. Rather than lecturing through a textbook, I break problems down step by step, connect concepts to real examples, and make sure students can explain the logic back to me before we move on — that's how I know it's actually sunk in, not just memorised. I'm patient with repetition and happy to slow down or speed up depending on how a student is grasping the work.
I teach in English.
In a typical lesson, expect a quick recap of what's been covered in class, then targeted practice on the areas causing the most difficulty, with worked examples and past-paper-style questions where relevant. I always leave time for questions and make sure a student leaves with a clear plan for what to practise before our next session.
My lessons are aimed at high school students preparing for exams (including matric), as well as first-year university students needing extra support in Maths, Stats, Physics, or Calculus. I work well with students who feel anxious about these subjects or have fallen behind and need to rebuild confidence, as well as stronger students aiming to push for top marks.
