About Dakalo
Hi, I'm Dakalo, an Honours student in Economic Science at the University of the Witwatersrand, with an undergraduate background in Economics and Computational and Applied Mathematics. Alongside my studies, I work as an educator creating Life Sciences, Geography, and Chemistry teaching materials, including content developed for a chemistry-focused eTutoring programme.
Teaching is something I take seriously; I believe every student learns differently, and my role is to meet them where they are rather than push a one-size-fits-all approach. I design my own worksheets and lesson content specifically so that each session is purposeful, whether that means reinforcing exam technique, clarifying a difficult concept, or building confidence in a subject a student has been struggling with.
I'm reliable, well-prepared for every lesson, and communicate clearly and patiently. My goal isn't just to help students pass, it's to help them genuinely understand the material, so the knowledge sticks beyond the next test. I only teach subjects and levels I'm confident and experienced in, and I'm upfront if something falls outside that.

My approach to tutoring is rooted in breaking down complex concepts into clear, structured steps; I create my own worksheets and teaching materials rather than relying on generic notes, so lessons are tailored to exactly where a student is struggling. As an Honours student in Economic Science with a background in Computational and Applied Mathematics, I bring a strong analytical foundation to how I explain scientific and mathematical concepts, while my ongoing work developing Life Sciences, Geography, and Chemistry materials for a tutoring programme means my content is exam-focused and aligned with the CAPS curriculum.
I'm fluent in English and can teach comfortably in it, with a teaching style that's patient, encouraging, and focused on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorisation.
In a typical lesson, students can expect a mix of concept explanation, guided practice using past exam-style questions, and time to ask questions freely. I check understanding as we go rather than just working through content, and I always leave students with clear notes or a worksheet to revise from afterwards.
My lessons are aimed primarily at high school learners (Grade 10–12) preparing for Life Sciences, Geography, and Chemistry, including matric exam preparation though I'm equally comfortable working with students earlier in high school who want to build a stronger foundation before their final years.
