About Lauren
I’m not a teacher by trade—but I have a passion for helping students unlock their creative personalities to help them achieve their goals and proven success in mentoring and coaching others. I graduated from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business as a business administration major and history of law and policy minor. My history minor required intense analytical essays. I also conducted research which has been featured in Sports Business Journal. Today, I’m a technical product manager at JPMorgan. All that to say… my writing experience is extensive: I’m an adept professional, analytical, creative, and academic writer. I also have experience in coaching and mentoring roles. I was the development lead in my student organization in college, where I developed curriculum to teach students a wide array of consulting-focused professional skills. Today, I volunteer for Minds Matter NYC as a writing advisor and help juniors in high school hone their writing skills to develop compelling personal statements and college application essays.

I specialize in personal statements, college application (including the common app) essays, resume building, and cover letters.
Workshopping your writing with a coach can be a very personal and vulnerable experience— my approach is student-first and prioritizes understanding the student’s experiences and goals to help them portray themselves as authentically as possible. Lessons are individualized and subject to where the writer is at in their writing journey, and tailored to help them achieve their immediate goals.
While grammar is important, I focus on the writing ideation. I do proofread and help students edit their work but prioritize enabling the student to critically consider feedback and creatively iterate on their work. These lessons often have implications broader than just writing and enforce skills that help students beyond their immediate writing goals.
