About Skylar
I hold degrees in English Literature and Political Science, as well as certificates in Philosophy and Public Policy. I am a true believer in the power of words and expression, and I find a lot of joy in learning about other people's stories and being able to contribute to their self-expression. I love guiding others to the eureka moment that makes their writing click. I draw comics in my free time, and I especially love science fiction and magical realism.

I offer writing tutoring services, proofreading, and editing services. I am adept at editing, proofreading, or entirely re-working writing pieces - both academic documents and personal writing like a statement of purpose or a personal statement. I have worked on many different types of writing, from honors theses to manuscripts to published research articles, and my versatility as a tutor is part of what sets me apart from the crowd. I value collaboration and I take a conversational approach to writing tutoring. My priority is to understand your goals so that we can work together to make sure your writing accurately and clearly expresses your intentions. I am flexible in a teaching approach, and can review documents independently in advance of a Zoom call to debrief on my comments, or we can rework the documents completely in sync on a call. I would prefer to work with university or high school level students, although I am more than happy to provide editing services for graduate school application materials.
