About Adam
I am a second year undergraduate student at King's College London for Mathematics. My eventual aim is to become an actuary and apply my skills to real life examples that can affect many people's everyday lives. I want to teach young people Maths because I believe that it is an underappreciated skill by many students today and that, if given the right tutor, Maths really isn't as hard as many make it out to be. I believe that everyone can succeed in Mathematics given the right guidance. I'll break down the most complicated techniques to the very basic principles and help you understand them, and I'll teach you many tips and tricks I've learnt along the way completing UKMT Maths challenges and the British Maths Olympiad. I have been the lead of the Hans Woyda Maths team with victories against other schools - and through this have direct experience working with and explaining concepts to younger pupils. I don't believe that any child is "just bad at Maths" and I believe given the right mindset and stimuli anybody can succeed at anything and I have the patience to make that a reality. And finally, I am a believer in the fact that unless you can teach a subject to someone in a way that they can understand, you do not know your subject well enough. I am a big advocate for actually understanding mathematical concepts rather than just rote learning or memorising them, something that I believe the current school system and even many existing tutors make their students do too much. School Maths has never really been an issue for me, so I have always been into Enrichment (maths that is unconventional and outside the curriculum). I have tutored before both in person and online with people primarily based at Chigwell School and can use my Enrichment experience to teach young people Mathematical techniques that can supercharge their Maths ability, allowing them to understand concepts far beyond their scope while not being too overwhelming. I also employ many old school Maths techniques that unfortunately aren't taught much today. The typical lessons with me are an hour long but can be longer on request, and they are in Maths for KS3 GCSE, A level, and Further Maths (with focus on Statistics and Pure Mathematics).
