About Mia
Hi, I’m a guitar tutor with 11 years of experience, helping students of all levels unlock their full musical potential. I hold an Associate Degree in Guitar Performance and have extensive experience preparing students for Rockschool, Trinity, and university-level guitar programmes. My teaching focuses on building strong technical skills while nurturing creativity and personal expression. I guide students through structured practice, tone development, and rhythm mastery, ensuring they progress confidently at their own pace. I also emphasise performance readiness, helping students feel comfortable and expressive on stage. I work with learners on all guitar styles, from classical and acoustic to jazz, electric, and bass. I believe every student has unique strengths, and I tailor lessons to highlight and develop those abilities. Creative exercises, improvisation, and musical exploration are a big part of my sessions. Above all, I am passionate about helping students discover joy in playing guitar and reaching their personal and performance goals. Tone awareness is key, and I help students develop a rich, expressive sound. We also explore breathing with rhythm to improve timing, phrasing, and musical flow. I encourage using music as a mindfulness tool, helping students feel calm, focused, and connected while playing. Lessons cover different styles of guitar, including classical, jazz, acoustic, electric, and bass. I work closely with those aiming to perform professionally, guiding them to excel in live performances and recordings. Creative exercises help develop improvisation, composition, and personal expression. I also support students in building consistent practice habits, overcoming challenges, and achieving their musical goals. Every session is tailored to individual needs, making learning both productive and enjoyable.
