About Irene
Dr Nicol is a qualified teacher and Faculty Head in sciences/Depute Headteacher. She is fully GTCS registered in chemistry and physics. She has over 20 years' experience in modern Scottish secondary teaching, and as an exam marker. Tuition is provided in all 3 sciences and is available online, via Google Classroom, or in person. Most schools in Scotland use Google Classroom already and as a result pupils are familiar with how it works and find it easy to use. Notes, presentations and practice exercises will all be made available via the Google Classroom. These have been developed to complement the lessons.

I prefer face-to-face lessons as I feel they give more room for dialogue and for both student and teacher to engage with the materials. However, I understand this isn't always possible and so can offer via Google Meet if necessary. The type of lesson offered depends mostly on the type of learner and what they need - this can vary from basic walkthrough of the subject matter, with discussion and interactive activities, to intensive past paper practice. The lessons will also change as the student improves and progresses.
