About Joel
My dad was a university English professor, so I was taught how to read, write, and speak in academic English from a young age. In college, I won awards as a tutor helping my classmates improve their writing.
My primary work as an adult has been teaching English to immigrant students in California, where I learned how to customize lessons to meet my students’ goals and interests. Just like I built lessons for my kids about futbol, technology, rap music, and animals, I will customize my curriculum to meet your interests and goals.
I learned to speak Spanish when I was 23-25 years old. I know it is challenging to learn a language as an adult, so i include plenty of fun and humor in my lessons.
I love teaching English by sharing about my culture, especially food, music, and sports. We will have fun sharing about our cultures in English!
