Super tutor

Nyasha is one of our best German tutors. High-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!

About Nyasha

I hold two language degrees from Oxford University; a 1st Class BA in Modern Languages (German), and an Mst in Comparative Literature (English, German and Portuguese) in which I gained a Merit. I am fully DBS checked. As well as these academic credentials, I have worked or volunteered in a range of teaching positions throughout my life, including running a reading club for Year 7 students during my A levels, working as a language assistant in a German high school during my year abroad, and volunteering as an interview helper and student ambassador during my degree, which involved interacting with and motivating prospective university applicants. I have experience tutoring both primary and secondary school students, as well as coaching applicants to the University of Oxford and assisting with mock interviews.

I am passionate about reading, writing and languages - I have lived in a number of different countries in southern Africa and Europe and I love to share my experience and love of learning with others. During my Masters, which I completed in 2021, I studied Comparative Literature and wrote my dissertation on modern African transgenerational novels by women writers; I have a particular interest in the representation of oral culture and migration in contemporary fiction. When teaching, I aim to convey the excitement of learning to my students, encouraging them to find their own particular 'niche' and to truly enjoy learning!

About the lesson

When teaching German, I combine a rigorous approach to learning grammar and vocabulary with a broad focus on literature, culture, film and current events. I aim to inspire my students to have a genuine curiosity about German culture and language, alongside building a firm grammatical foundation that will guarantee excellent exam results. I also make lessons fun - I love languages and want to inspire my students to love them too!

Please note that the hourly fee listed is an average and will vary from £40-£50 an hour depending on your level or school year.

Nyasha is an amazing teacher! Her manner was kind and encouraging, and she took time to identify my interests and my strengths. She was then able to connect with them and use that to help me in the areas where I felt I was weak, so that I ended up with much more confidence in engaging with poetry. I can’t wait for my next lesson!

“Nyasha is a very committed teacher who gives 100% to her students. She comes with a lot of experience teaching and translating (English to Sena or Portuguese to Sena) in Mozambique. She is passionate about languages and loves to impart that passion to her students. Her love for languages means that she is fluent and comfortable with German, English, Portuguese and Sena, an African language widely spoken in central Mozambique. I have no hesitation in recommending her as tutor or translator especially for German to English or vice versa. “
