About Tres
Tres Dean is a writer, performer, director, and educator from Hollywood, California. Tres Dean is a writer, performer, director, and educator from Hollywood, California.
He has written, directed, and performed for Norwegian Cruise Lines, Walt Disney World, Shadowbox Cabaret, The Comedy Central Stage, iO West, and at The Groundlings.
He has appeared in both short and feature films including Shakespeare's Cat, Dirty Souls, The Latest Thing, The Green Fairy, A Crooked Somebody, and the upcoming Sci-Fi channel movie Mind Blown. Tres co-wrote and starred in the feature film L.A. Paranormal. He is the Co-Artistic Director of A Prima Vista Productions and sketch comedy writer for The Madcap Underground. Before moving to Hollywood, Tres was the co-comedy writer and co-creator of the The Big Show in Palm Springs, CA.
Some of his previous theatrical directing credits include A Flea in Her Ear, The Happiest Days of Your Life, All in the Timing, One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest, Will Any Gentleman?, Buried Child, The Rocky Horror Show, Is He Dead?, Vanya, Sonia, Masha, & Spike, Jack, and The Princess of the Pea. He is also the playwright of both Jack and The Princess and the Pea.
Tres has performed professionally on stage in roles such as Leo Bloom (The Producers), Banquo (Macbeth), Huckleberry Finn (Big River), Barney Cashman (Last of the Red Hot Lovers), Arles & Company (Greater Tuna & A Tuna Christmas), The Tin Man (The Wizard of Oz), King Herod (Jesus Christ Superstar), Hero (A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum), Banjo (The Man Who Came to Dinner), Jacquot (Carnival), Billy Bibbit (One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest), and Bob Cratchit (A Christmas Carol).
Tres has 10 years of professional theatrical teaching experience at the middle, high school, and college levels. He has served as a private coach and teacher for the past 15 years. Tres is currently the Drama Production Director at Millikan Middle School in Sherman Oaks, CA.
I first started teaching while I was still in college, working as a teaching assistant while pursuring my M.A. degree. I've always loved and been passionate about teaching.

When working with a new student, I simply take some time to get to know them. What are their interests in acting? Are they looking to work in theatre, film, commercials, or maybe all three? Who are their acting influences? What styles or methods have they studied? I basically want to know why they have sought me out, so I can provide them with the skills they are looking craft.
I've worked with actors of all ages at every grade level, including the college and university levles. I've also taught adult classes and professional workshops.
A student should always seek out a teacher who can adapt to their style of learning. Acting is not an exact science. There is no one way to do it. Any acting teacher that tells you there is only one way, is wrong.
I have led the Millikan Drama Production program to consecutive 1st place finishes at the Drama Teachers Associaton of Southern California Drama Festival, since being hired by the Los Angeles Unified School District two years ago.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out

Traditionally, my lessons are $30 an hour. Prices are also negotiable based on the total number of lessons, as well as the purpose behind the lessons.
