About Caroline
Hello! My name is Caroline Smoak, and I have played the violin since I was five. One of my favorite aspects about playing the violin is having the opportunity to share music with others, which is why I love teaching. I have been teaching since I was in high school, and it is something I never want to stop doing and continued to do even through college. While pursuing my Bachelor's degree at the New England Conservatory, I received a minor in Teaching Artistry and Music Education, and I was also on the faculty of the Sharon Music Academy in Boston. These experiences were immensely inspiring and showed me how important teaching is to me, and I sincerely hope to be able to continue to share how much music means to me through teaching!

As a teacher, my lessons are catered to the needs of each student, no matter what level they are. My primary goal is to help my students feel confident in their skills through step-by-step instruction. Each of my lessons build on the previous one, so students master each aspect of learning the violin and never feel overwhelmed. I have worked with students of all ages, from students as young as four to students in their 30's, and I find so much joy in getting to meet and teach every single person I work with!

Perfect! Caroline is a very elegant, sophisticated, and thoughtful violin teacher. We first had a trial lesson online, and then were fortunate enough to have in-person lessons with her while she was studying at the Yale School of Music. Whether online or in person, she consistently demonstrated patience, attention to detail, and professionalism. I highly recommend this wonderful teacher!
