About Fergus
Some Qualifications: -Bachelor’s Degree, Music (2:1) -Master’s Degree, Music 2026 -ABRSM Piano, Grade 8 -ABRSM Singing, Grade 8 -Trinity Rock & Pop, Grade 8 Level I have been a working musician for much of my life. Starting out as a singer in professional choirs and cathedral choirs, I have built skillsets applicable to many sectors of music. Regarding bass guitar, I have spent approximately 7 years: working in studio environments, theatre pit bands, session bands, originals bands, and orchestras. I am most proficient in rock, pop, blues, soul, and reggae. However, I am still very comfortable playing outside of these genres. If you are a beginner looking for a place to start, or an intermediate who feels they have hit a wall (or anything in between!), please do get in contact!

As an experienced session bass player, I teach students how to develop the skills to learn songs fast, and the technique to play them well! With an extensive background in classical music, I recognise the value in theory and technique. This being said, if a student can’t find joy in playing their instrument, or are not playing the music they enjoy, these skills are useless! Combining elements of classical learning techniques, and methods often used by session players, I enable students to: -Become independent in their learning -Confident in their Playing -Understand the fretboard -Service their instrument correctly (which can save a lot of money down the line!)
