About Mika
Hi, I'm Mika — a native Japanese speaker based in New Zealand, and I'm passionate about helping you speak Japanese naturally and confidently.
My journey with language learning started long before I became a coach. For 9 years, I worked as an early childhood educator, watching young children discover language every single day. That experience gave me a deep understanding of how language is naturally absorbed — not through grammar rules, but through listening, imitating, and repeating in real-life situations.
When I moved to New Zealand 25 years ago, I lived that process myself. As a wife, a mother, a university student, and later a language coach, I built my English from scratch — picking up the words and phrases I needed, day by day, mistake by mistake. That personal experience is at the heart of everything I do.
For nearly 10 years, I've been coaching Japanese learners of English — and now I'm turning that passion around to share the beauty of my native language with you.

Each 45-minute session is built around you — your goals, your situation, and the words and phrases you actually need. Rather than following a fixed textbook, I focus on the real, natural Japanese that makes sense for your life.
With nearly 10 years of experience coaching language learners, plus a background in early childhood education, I understand how people learn — and how to make it stick. My approach is simple: listen, imitate, and practice in context, just like children naturally pick up language.
