About Geraldine

Clarinetist Geraldine Osorio from Bogotá Colombia begun her music studies at age of five with vocal training, at age of sixteen the clarinet became the focal point on her adolescence. Miss Osorio holds a Bachelor Degree in Music Performance from Longy School of Music of Bard College. Currently a New Englan Conservatory student for a Jazz certification program



During her time at Longy, Geraldine was awarded with a coveted teaching assistantship in the prestigious El Sistema Side by Side program, since then, Geraldine served as a teacher and mentor in this program. Geraldine has also knowledge in Saxophone, Ukulele and Piano. Fluent in Spanish and English Geraldine’s languages skills have significantly contributed to her teaching success.



Geraldine is also an active chamber musician player since 2014. She has performed with various groups and orchestras in the Boston area.

I believe education is any experience that has a formative effect in people, Education is a process where people transmits their knowledge from one generation to another.

My aim is to motivate students to being a personal exploration, and this can happened if they are inspired with the improvement made at classes and after practice sessions and confident in their abilities. Best teachers are the ones who adopts the perspective of an eternal learner.

To me, a key element of teaching is keeping the student motivate. I teach with a smile and open personality that helps me to interact with the students as a guide through their learning process. I believe that effective teachers understand what knowledge their students already have, to tap into it and build upon it every day.

My objective is to motivate students to a level of independence where they develop the skills to learn for themselves, exploring the way they play and trying to figure out by themselves what could it be the problem.

I believe that my enthusiastic and self-exploration approach to teach music enable students acquire musical and technique skills that keeps them interested and motivated. The results I have seen on students are positive.
