About Gabbie
Oboe is not the most difficult instrument language to learn! I can help you build solid fundamentals and make learning instrument fun by teaching tunes that you are familiar with. With a strong background in music theory, I will teach music theory while teaching oboe to develop students' musicianship and thorough understanding in music. Music theory students are also welcomed.
I am bilingual-- I can teach fluently in English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese). Feel free to reach me out via text.
I love kids and enjoy interacting with them. Seeing students' progress motivates me to continue teaching.
I am doing my first-year oboe performance master's degree and Theory Pedagogy Certificate at Arizona State University. Before coming to Arizona, I did my undergrad in oboe performance at University of North Florida.

If students have no musical background, I will start from reading music then to playing the instrument.
Knowing the goals of the student and tailor-make my lessons for them.
I frequently perform with orchestra and wind ensembles. A recent production of mine was playing first oboe in Donizetti's opera, Daughter of the Regiment.
