Super tutor

Mina is one of our best Japanese tutors. High-quality profile, verified qualifications, a quick response time, and great reviews from students!

About Mina

I studied Japanese literature and language at a Japanese university and later joined an English literature department in the UK as a visiting student, where my passion for psychology blossomed. I went on to study educational and applied psychology, completing research degrees in pedagogy and linguistics in the US. I also hold postgraduate diplomas in teaching Japanese (US) and ESOL (UK). With over 30 years of experience, I am passionate about sharing my language and culture. I want my students to enjoy Japanese independently—and helping them on this journey is my greatest joy

About the lesson

My teaching approach is dynamic yet structured, supported by carefully tailored PowerPoint slides. With over 30 years of experience, I ensure grammar and vocabulary are taught effectively while making speaking practice enjoyable and interactive. I also focus on building learners’ analytical skills—showing that language learning can be both intellectually stimulating and fun.

Mina's response
It was lovely to have our first lesson together, and I hope you enjoyed it! It was wonderful to see you successfully retrieve your vocabulary during the listening-focused activity, especially as you were able to do this more and more as the lesson progressed. It was fantastic to see how much you improved in just 30 minutes. Well done—you made a great start, and I’m looking forward to seeing your progress in our future lessons!

It was a pleasure meeting you today, Leonardo-kun. You demonstrated strong analytical and mathematical reasoning skills, with clear problem-solving ability and thoughtful engagement throughout the lesson. These strengths will serve you well, particularly in learning Kanji characters. Although it was a trial lesson, I very much enjoyed working with you. I hope we have the opportunity to continue! I have studied under Mina sensei for 4 years and have no reservation to say that it has been the most productive time and the best tutor i had the privilege to learn from. Her professional demeanor and methodical teaching helped me pass 2 JLPTs on first try, something i would definitely not manage otherwise.

More than that she was a great person during that time always encouraging and passing not only practical knowledge but cultural as well.

I would be glad to have an opportunity to study under her again in the future and certainly recommend anyone that is interested in the subject to choose her a tutor.

Mina taught my son Japanese for two years and made learning fun and motivating. He went from reading manga to excelling in his GCSE in just two years. And he even enjoyed the homework.
