About Ben
I am a composer and jazz pianist. I have been composing music professionally for more than 10 years, have a master’s degree in composition from Rice University, and have performed around the world, including Norway and South Korea. I have scored award-winning films and theatrical productions. I’ve taught music theory, ear training, and piano at Rice University and at the Da Camera Young Artists’ Program in Houston, Texas.

My teaching style is open. I base my lessons on what the students want or need in music-making, regardless of genre or influences. Once I find their interests, I provide a rigorous program that matches the students’ needs, challenging them to expand their horizons.
