As a complete beginner, I have been learning Russian online with Oxana for some seven months. I first wanted to learn Russian to have a meaningful conversation with my girlfriend’s family (I just wanted to know want she was saying about me). She has been in the UK since she was 5 and her English is perfect. However, her family live in Russia and speak limited English.

Lessons with Oxana are well prepared, she 's punctual in her Rendez-vous via Skype and flexible if needed for a calendar change. We have a great interaction and I am learning in a fun way. She includes cultural aspects, uses a structured course-book for a graduated build-up or deviates at times for a specific topic, even on request.
In the beginning, I was stuck not finding a satisfactory learning curve but with patience she smoothed it out and got me to a level today where I am fairly proud and get compliments from my entourage.

Oxana was recommended to us by a friend - she tutored their son, who subsequently achieved 9 in Russian GCSE. My daughter also wanted to sit Russian GCSE. She could speak and write some in Russian but not well: her vocabulary was quite limited and she was making a lot of mistakes when speaking and writing. Oxana tutored my daughter for about a year. The lessons were very well structured and there was a lot of weekly homework that took my daughter some time to get used to. However, in a month or so after they started, my daughter picked up the pace and this had paid off. Her Russian had improved a lot and she felt quite confident going into the exam, finding it very manageable after practicing with Oxana. We have not received the results yet, however expect them to be good. Also, my daughter enjoyed her lessons with Oxana which helped her progress relatively fast.

This is an update on my earlier reference for Oxana as we have now received the result for my daughter's Russian GCSE. She achieved 9. Needless to say, we are very pleased with the outcome and grateful to Oxana for preparing our daughter so well for the exam. Also, this was the only GCSE that she wasn't stressed about. I am writing in support of the application made by Oxana Novikova for employment as a tutor on this site. I have known Oxana for over a year, while she has been teaching and preparing our son for Russian GCSE.
Ms Novikova has been very professional throughout the tutoring period, well prepared for each session and always on time. We saw that she is interested in our son's progress, as she was always keen to discuss with us major issues and strategies to move forward. She is a very nice and approachable person, and our son really enjoyed his lessons.
It was important for us that Oxana was familiar with the exam board syllabus, so we were reassured that our son would be very well prepared for his GCSE. She gave him very useful strategies how to tackle the most difficult tasks and how to improve his weak points. Thoughtfully prepared regular homework helped our son to improve confidently and steadily with his language skills and expand his vocabulary. He has made an enormous progress and is looking forward to his exam in several months time.

Over one year Iv had oksana has my tutor. Prior to my visit I had no knowledge of the Russian alphabet or system behind the Russian language.. But oksana was a fantastic teacher , very calm and made me feel at ease . She always helped if I needed help during home tasks responding to my messages instantly. Oxana was tutoring my son for Russian GCSE for 2 years by skype and he got grade 9 this year (2019). My son recently commented that without training with Oxana he would not achieve this result and he is very happy for that. During these two years of tutoring he always was happy with the lessons, he enjoyed them. As a parent I can say that I was very happy with Oxana’s tutoring. She organised the lessons in an interesting and demanding way and found the methods to communicate with my teenage son so that he was always responsible for his studies. Oxana prepared a lot of homework and reading material for the lessons and all the homework should be done and send back to Oxana prior the next lesson to discuss - and that was my son's responsibility. As a result, my son not only passed his GCSE well, but also improved his vocabulary and use the language more correct.

Oxana is flexible (when we need to go somewhere, we never had a problem in rescheduling a lesson or change the lesson duration), friendly person and experienced teacher. I definitely recommend her.

I was struggling in my GCSE Russian so I looked for a tutor. Luckily I found Oxana who was very helpful and has greatly improved my ability to speak and understand Russian. In my mock oral I received a scores of 24/50. I then took lessons with Oxana and my score improved to 48/50 which is double ! I would definitely recommend!

Oxana is a very friendly and entusistic teacher. She found an individual approach to my teenage twin boys who had some basic knowledge of Russian, but needed improvement. They find their russian lessons quite useful and enjoyable. Having them on Skype saves time on travelling. Oxana is an excellent tutor and I would highly recommend her.

I am a college student, struggling through my Russian language major. I discovered Oxana online, through language sites. I emailed her right away. She was flexible with her time, even with our 7 hour time difference. She interviewed me over skype, to see my level of knowledge.
