About Victoria

I eat, sleep and breathe singing, music, songwriting and performance. It is who I am and the only thing I have ever done professionally. I love sharing my knowledge and passion with others. I have a wealth of experience to draw on when coaching and am still very much an active, gigging musician. The advice and training you will receive from me is field-tested, relevant and well-researched. I have been told by students many times that I put them at ease immediately, so if you are nervous about singing lessons, don't be...I've got you!

I am a professional vocalist and songwriter and have been teaching for over 14 years now. I have a 1st class BA Hons degree in Music Performance and was originally classically trained, passing my Grade 8 with distinction in my teens. I have toured worldwide as a vocalist and recorded on many albums and commercials as a session singer. These days I mostly sing jazz professionally, but still teach many other styles, including classical.
My lessons are always tailored to your goals and not formulaic. What I do always insist on however, is establishing a safe and stable foundation for your voice, to keep it healthy. Fundamental techniques such as breathing, posture and support are key for every singer and I base my methods on proper scientific research and frequent CPD. This is especially important with children/young people and busy working professionals/semi-professionals. Sessions are typically 1hr, but can be shorter for younger singers with shorter attention spans! I teach all ages, abilities and most styles...but I'm a jazz specialist.

You can expect to...

Gain confidence and enjoy yourself!

Develop efficient breathing technique

Explore and (hopefully) extend your range

Learn how to properly support your voice for greater power and control

Increase your resonance and improve your tone

Explore different stylistic elements of singing, including improvisation!

Learn how to choose the right key/s for your voice

Find different ways to interpret and deliver songs

Improve your stagecraft and performance skills

SINGER-SONGWRITERS can use sessions to workshop new material and perfect their self-accompaniment skills, as well as working on vocal technique. I am a published songwriter and can help guide you in the right direction.
