About Adedamola

Learn Yoruba with an Experienced Yoruba L2 Tutor and Author

Are you looking to learn Yoruba from scratch, improve your conversational skills, or reconnect with Yoruba language and culture? I can help you achieve your goals through structured, personalised and engaging lessons.

About Me
I am Adedamola Adedokun Olofa, a Yoruba language educator and author specialising in Yoruba as a Second Language (L2). With 15 years of dedicated experience, I am passionate about helping learners develop practical Yoruba language skills and the confidence to communicate effectively.

As an author of Yoruba language-learning books published on Amazon, I bring a resource-based approach to teaching. My work focuses on making Yoruba accessible to learners through structured self-study, everyday dialogues and bilingual stories.

I understand that learning a new language requires more than memorising words. It involves understanding pronunciation, sentence structures, cultural expressions and how the language works in real-life situations.

My goal is to help you learn Yoruba progressively, confidently and meaningfully.

My Published Yoruba Learning Books on Amazon
I have authored three resources that support different aspects of Yoruba language learning.

1. "Speak Yoruba in 24 Hours: An Ideal Teach-Yourself Book for Those Learning Yoruba as a 2nd Language"
A self-study resource designed for learners who want a practical introduction to Yoruba. It reflects my commitment to making the language accessible to second-language learners.

2. "Jilo, the Goat and Friends – Ewurẹ ti ń jẹ́ Jilo àti àwọn Ọ̀rẹ́ rẹ̀"
An English–Yoruba bilingual short-story book for children, using storytelling to introduce learners to Yoruba vocabulary and language in an engaging context.

3. "Everyday Yoruba Words and Phrases: A Bilingual Compendium of Everyday Simple Dialogues in English–Yoruba (Learning Yoruba as a Second Language)"
A practical resource built around everyday words, expressions and simple dialogues to help learners develop their understanding of conversational Yoruba.

These publications complement my teaching and provide additional learning resources for students who want to practise beyond our lessons.
(To preview each book, simply copy and paste each book title on your browser).

What You Will Learn
My lessons are tailored to your current level, learning objectives and pace. Depending on your needs, we can work on:

- Speaking and conversation: Develop the ability to express yourself in everyday situations.
- Pronunciation and tones: Understand Yoruba tonal patterns and improve pronunciation.
- Vocabulary and grammar: Build your knowledge of words, expressions and sentence structures.
- Listening and comprehension: Improve your understanding of spoken Yoruba.
- Reading and writing: Develop your ability to recognise, read and write Yoruba.
- Culture and communication: Learn Yoruba greetings, idiomatic expressions and culturally appropriate language use.

My Teaching Method
I use a learner-centred approach that combines clear explanations, practical examples, guided exercises, conversation practice and relevant learning resources.

I adapt lessons to suit your level and goals, whether you are learning your first Yoruba words or developing greater fluency. My published books can also support your learning and provide opportunities for additional practice.

Who Can Learn with Me?
My lessons are suitable for:

- Complete beginners with little or no prior knowledge of Yoruba.
- Intermediate learners seeking to improve their communication skills.
- Heritage learners who want to reconnect with their language and culture.
- Children who benefit from age-appropriate, engaging language activities.
- International learners interested in Yoruba language and culture.

Let's Start Learning Yoruba
You do not need previous experience to begin. With the right guidance, regular practice and a clear learning plan, you can make meaningful progress.

Book your first lesson with me, tell me about your goals, and let's build your Yoruba language skills together.

Learn Yoruba with confidence. Communicate with purpose. Connect with the culture.
