About Eleanor

Hi, I’m Eleanor! I’m currently studying Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC). Before starting Veterinary Medicine, I completed a BSc (Hons) in Bioveterinary Science at the University of Liverpool, followed by an MSc in Wild Animal Biology at the RVC.

I’ve always been fascinated by Biology, but I also know first-hand that being interested in a subject doesn’t necessarily mean finding it easy. I struggled with learning myself, and I remember how frustrating it can be when something seems to make sense to everyone else but just isn’t clicking for you. That experience has shaped the way I approach learning and is one of the reasons I enjoy helping others.

I want my lessons to be a relaxed and encouraging environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes and take the time they need to understand something properly.

Outside of studying, my background in wildlife biology and veterinary medicine means I’m constantly surrounded by Biology in the real world, from animal health and anatomy to ecology, conservation and disease. I love bringing these examples into lessons where I can, as I think they can make Biology much more interesting and memorable.

I believe Biology is much easier to learn when you actually understand what is happening, rather than trying to memorise endless facts. My aim is to make difficult topics feel much more manageable and help students become more confident in their own ability.

I tailor each lesson to the individual student. We can work through topics they are finding difficult, break complicated ideas down into simpler steps, use diagrams and real-life examples, or focus on exam questions and how to approach them. I also like to regularly check understanding throughout a lesson rather than simply talking through a topic.

I know that every student learns differently, so I’m happy to adapt my approach depending on what works best for them. Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable asking questions - there is no such thing as a silly question!

Lessons are typically 60 minutes, although I can be flexible depending on the student's age, needs and goals.

I offer Biology tutoring for GCSE and A-Level students, and I’m particularly keen to support students who lack confidence in Biology, feel overwhelmed by the amount of content, or simply need someone to explain things in a different way.
