About Alan
My name is Alan, I'm 15, and I've been playing guitar for 6 years. Growing up I had a fond interest in music, and music theory. I learned the violin at the age of 6; string instruments are my favorite kind of instruments if you cant tell! Eventually I picked up on my 2nd instrument, the guitar at the age of 9. My first tutor however was someone who only taught me classical... I never learned any scales, or how to play a mean guitar solo. This motivated me to expand my knowledge on how to play guitar, and I can say confidently that I hold up well in a solo! I also learned how to figure out songs by ear by chord voicings, and melodies! Becoming a better guitar player has opened my eyes to the fact that people are not being taught the right way... People should be able to reflect their own personality onto the guitar.

When I was first learning guitar, I was taught in a very strict and restrictive way. Being forced to play classical music, and not allowing my own creativity to shine through in my playing. If I could go back and teach myself what I know now about guitar, I absolutely would! Guitar is about expression of one's self. It truly reflects your authenticity and what separates you from the crowd. After honing technique, and guitar skills for a couple of years now, I believe I can help others learn guitar, from simple chords, all the way to advance techniques like sweep picking! If you, or someone you know is interested in a guitar tutor with 5+ years of experience, as well as a way to save money on a tutor, consider me a suitable candidate!
