Teaching Methods:
Demonstration & Imitation – Play a piece or technique and have the student mimic it.
Step-by-Step Instruction – Break down techniques (chords, strumming, fingerpicking) into smaller, manageable steps.
Call and Response – Play a phrase and have the student repeat it to develop ear training and timing.
Scaffolded Learning – Start with simple exercises and gradually increase difficulty.
Song-Based Learning – Teach concepts through songs that students enjoy to keep them engaged.
Interactive Exercises – Use backing tracks, metronomes, and jam sessions to improve timing and confidence.
Guided Improvisation – Encourage creativity through scales and chord progressions.
Methodologies:
Classical Approach – Uses notation reading, technique exercises, and structured curriculum (e.g., Suzuki Method).
Modern Contemporary Approach – Focuses on chord-based playing, strumming patterns, and learning by ear.
TAB (Tablature) and Chord Charts – A practical approach for beginners who don’t read music.
Ear Training & Aural Skills – Develops listening skills to recognize chords, scales, and melodies.
Blended Learning – Uses a mix of in-person lessons, video tutorials, and online resources.
Performance-Based Learning – Prepares students for live performances to build confidence and stage presence.
