About Clarissa
I am a violinist and educator with a big passion for healthier music education methods and instrumental learning. Music education should not be about chasing certification or awards, but nurturing a lifelong love for music. I strongly believe in holistic learning and prioritising the student's wellbeing, as such I am working towards developing a teaching method that incorporates the Alexander Technique and Body Mapping. My qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from the Royal Academy of Music and a teaching licentiate from the Royal Academy of Music. I have also been a Senior Music Educator at The Music Circle (Singapore). I am currently pursuing my Masters in Performance and Pedagogy and plan to take on Alexander teacher training in the near future.

My teaching method focuses on holistic learning and injury prevention. I place great emphasis on helping students achieve a comfortable set up and playing in the most tension-free way possible so as to prevent injury and discomfort in the long term. My lessons include theory and aural skills along with violin technique so that students are well prepared in their learning. I also believe learning should be fun and enjoyable, so my lessons include a variety of activities like whiteboard games, flashcards and movement activities. Lesson durations are according to the student's focus and stamina, ranging from 30 mins to an hour. I have 6 years of experience teaching both group and individual lessons, and am happy to work with children 6 and up, as well as adults.

Perfect! Very patient with young children.
Perfect! After a long time away from the instrument I was doubtful I could play anything but Clarissa made me completely at ease. She advised on my technique and playing with kindness, compassion and lots of encouragement.
After listening to Clarissa demonstrate the musical piece she inspired awe in her talent and renewed my enthusiasm for playing the violin.
She listened carefully whilst I played and noted the positives and what we can work on for next time, whilst taking into account my other commitments.
As well as being a lovely teacher, Clarissa is professional, experienced and a credit to the music industry.View more reviews
