About Riba
I've been active in the music industry for 10 years. Attended the University of Cape Town (UCT) to study African Music and Jazz Studies. I've worked extensively in the mainstream sector with artists such as Jimmy Nevis, Lady Zamar, Zoë Modiga and most recently Nasty C. Throughout my career, I've always dedicated any free time to either one-on-one or group lessons at resource centers, my local church or the comfort of my home/the student's home. I have a great passion for seeing others succeed in music. I had the privilege of having a great tutor that saw the spark in me and gave me the opportunity to further my studies. Its imperative that I pass on the baton.

I use a very informal methodology to convey information. One where the student will never forget. It's a combination of fun and theory, in that order. Music is to be enjoyed and it's meant to be felt. The message must resonate with the listener. I start with assessing the student with a brief questionnaire to understand where we need to start and how we'll get to our main goal. 1. I get to know my student better on a social level. 2. What is music? and the importance thereof. 3. The anatomy of your instrument. 4. Introduction to Music Theory. 5. Scale and Technique 6. Practicing and endurance 7. Most importantly to have fun when you play your instrument.
