About Mackenzie
I am a recent college graduate from University of Massachusetts Amherst where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in mathematics. I am now working towards a masters degree in secondary mathematics education at the same university.
I am an adjunct math teacher at a private school in Holyoke Massachusetts, where I have been teaching algebra for a bout a year now. I have experience teaching algebra I, algebra II, geometry, and pre-calculus to all age groups.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy playing board games, reading, and spending time outside.

I think that teaching to a students wants and needs is the most important aspect of teaching. If a student learns the best by doing practice problems, then we will do practice problems. If a student learns best by reading definitions, then we will read through and discuss text books. If a student learns best by seeing the problems in real world scenarios, then we will practice and solve real world problems. The way I learn best doesn’t matter when I’m teaching; what matters is the way the student learns.

Details
I offer 2different tutoring rates, and each rate comes with a different type of lesson:
- $25: I will come to each lesson prepared to answer questions, work through problems, re-teach, etc. based on what my student asks/needs.
- $40: I will come to each lesson with a pre-planned outline of the session that we will follow including notes, examples, activities, and a questions portion. The outline will be based on discussions that we had at the end of the last session, a course rubric, a curriculum framework, etc.
