About Hao
I'm a Cambridge Engineering graduate, specialising in Machine Learning, and about to start a career in quantitative finance. Over the last five years I've tutored A level students and Oxbridge engineering applicants, with more than 70% of my students obtaining offers from Cambridge, Oxford or Imperial for engineering.
I sat the ESAT and the Cambridge interviews myself only a few years ago, so the current A level specs, the admissions tests and the kinds of questions interviewers actually ask are all fresh in my mind, not something I'm reconstructing from a decade ago.
I teach because the moment a student stops being intimidated by a hard problem and starts attacking it is one of the most satisfying things I do. I've yet to meet a motivated student I couldn't get there with the right plan.

Sessions are problem-driven, not lecture-driven. You work through hard questions out loud and I correct your reasoning in real time, that's the skill the ESAT and the interviews actually test, and it's the fastest way to lift an A level grade as well.
Every plan is tailored. A Year 12 starting early needs a totally different programme to a Year 13 with three weeks until the ESAT, and I build the lesson plan around where you are, what you're aiming at, and where your real weak spots are (not where you think they are).
