About Arjun
My name is Arjun Deckha and I am a dual Canadian-British citizen with the right to work in the UK. I am also a first-year UCL Chemical Engineering MEng student looking for a part-time role to support my studies and to contribute to my new home in London.
In addition, I have worked with children in an educational environment having volunteered at Sistema Toronto, a free after-school music program for underprivileged youth, where I helped pupils aged 6-13 learn choral music and ameliorate as vocalists. Moreover, I have also been a school Outdoor Education Leader on two, one-week expeditions. In this role, I supervised children aged 11-16 in a residential capacity in the wilderness and supported the improvement of their outdoorsmanship. These two experiences were vital in furthering my ability to aid students develop their self esteem, confidence and resilience in various learning environments.
In this role, I would like to combine my prior teaching and mentorship skills along with my extensive mathematics and chemistry knowledge that I possess from my studies.

When it comes to teaching, I believe in a very hands on and applied approach. This means that, in my opinion, we learn mathematics and science concepts best when they are applied to real-life situations.
As a tutor, I will ensure to, when helping explain relevant topics, show simulations and examples of the mathematics and science concepts in action. Although this is my preferred style of teaching, I would be willing to help the student learn concepts in their preferred manner.
Lessons with me will run for an hour, usually on weekends or evenings. I typically teach individuals at GCSE level aged 14-16 although am open to others depending on the circumstances.
I have worked with younger children in an educational environment in a music program.
