About Chris
I am a senior computer science student attending Biola University and I find joy in being able to teach and help others. I have had a few opportunities to be able to help both my younger brother and sister and my colleagues at work in math and thoroughly enjoyed it. My brother is a sophomore in college and my sister is in high school and I always enjoy whenever they need help clarifying a concept or an idea, especially when it is math related because that is my strong suit. Being able to help others is what brings me joy and being graced with skills in math allows me to help students succeed in their academics.

I do not use a single fixed teaching method. I meet and learn the individual student first, then intentionally chose and combine methods that match how that student thinks, processes information, and learns best. My main principle is always the same, start from the student’s actual thought process, make it visible, work with it not against it, and build from there. I create a personalized lesson plan for each and every student that includes a profile of their thinking patterns, tailored goals, a custom mix of methods, and a flexible session structure of using prior knowledge, modeling expert reasoning, guided practice, independent attempts, and reflective discussion of how their thinking is growing, so that instruction always meets them exactly where they are and builds strong, transferable understanding.
